Cross Docking (pool distribution)

In its purest form cross-docking is the action of unloading materials from an incoming trailer or rail car and immediately loading these materials in outbound trailers or rail cars, thus eliminating the need for warehousing (storage). MAW cross dock free time allowance is 72 hours. After the free-time is exhausted goods will be moved into the warehouse and a Warehouse Receipt will be issued and storage charges will apply.

MAW offers an expanded Cross Dock Service for customers that require additional sorting or handling and re-loading of goods without being placed in the warehouse. Pricing is dependent upon the level of service required.

Detention with and without Power

MAW requires 24-hour advance EDI notice for all outbound or inbound shipments prior to arrival. This advance notification allows our schedulers to plan for the efficient unloading of the inbound carrier and avoid detaining carrier drivers unnecessarily. Without a 24-hour advance EDI notification the carrier driver will be loaded/unloaded as the warehouse schedule allows. MAW will not be responsible for detention charges without prior 24-hours EDI shipment notification.

Hazardous Materials

Depending on the hazard class insurance restrictions may be prevent MAW from accepting some hazardous materials. HM goods will be accepted on a case by case basis.
